INSTRUCTORS

Instructors

All certified instructors are members and licensed under the Cosmetology Association of New Brunswick and have numerous years of experience in their field. All of the instructors continually hone their skills by attending numerous conventions and seminars throughout the year to learn the latest techniques as they pertain to advanced cutting and coloring courses as well as the latest trend of hair extensions. It is the belief of all the instructors however, that a good foundation is necessary to build on, and that is why first and foremost the students will learn the basic essentials in cutting and coloring to get their career started on the right path.

Sonia LeBlanc-Silliker - Is the Owner and President of Chez Bernard Beauty Academy.  A former student of the academy, Sonia has an impeccable reputation as one of top stylist to ever graduate from Chez Bernard. After several successful years as the owner and operator of her own Salon, she decided it was time for a new challenge and became an instructor at the Academy. With her keen eye for business, Sonia felt that as the owner of Chez Bernard Beauty Academy, she could help to elevate the school to the next level and that is just what she did when she purchased the school in 2004.

As the youngest school owner in the Maritimes, Sonia to this day continues to add to her resume by attending, and being involved with several top name organizations. Sonia is certified by the CANB as a Master Judge for hairstyling competition. Along those same lines, she is a regular in the panel of judges for the Miss and Miss Teen New Brunswick Pageant each year. Her willingness to expand her business knowledge has taken her to business and hairstylists conventions across Canada and the U.S. and even as far away as Milan, Italy. In 2006 she represented Chez Bernard Beauty Academy in Association with Façade International at the Canadian Model and Talent Convention in Toronto, ON.

Sonia is a Master Colorist, and cutter having been certified by several different companies and associations throughout the years. Most notably, she is licensed to install Great Lengths Hair Extensions. Not only as a technician but as a client to Great Lengths, Sonia was featured in a Special Article of the Moncton Times and Transcript on the ever growing popularity of extensions.

Sylvette Benoit - became an instructor at Chez Bernard Beauty Academy in January, 2005. Her knowledge, experience and terrific personality make her a welcomed addition to our staff. Sylvette is a graduate of Studio En Vogue in Lameque, NB.

She also continues to grow and improve as a stylist and hairdresser by maintaining a regular client base. She has attended several cutting and coloring courses throughout the Maritimes and in Toronto and Montréal.   Sylvette is also a certified master colorist with Schwartzkopf products.

In the words of Sonia Leblanc, “Sylvette is quite possibly one of the best haircutters I’ve ever seen…”

Sylvette’s creativity and enthusiasm adds much to the classroom.

Jennifer Boudreau -  graduated from Chez Bernard Beauty Academy in 2002. Since that time, she has used her talents at Martinique Hair Design, Revolution Studio, and is presently being creative at Dubeers Hair Design.

During this time, Jennifer furthered her knowledge in the field by attending many courses, some of which are: Paul Mitchell up-do’s, Schwartzkopf color correction and advanced color techniques, Aveda cutting techniques, and several coloring and cutting shows throughout the Maritimes

In 2006, Jennifer wanted to further challenge herself. She took the training and passed the examination process of the Cosmetology Association of New Brunswick to become a certified Instructor.

She has an excellent way of relating to the students and helping them make the most of their abilities and get the most out of their education.

Marie-Anna Boudreau –

Personal – I was born in Campbellton, NB, the oldest child in a family of 6. I went to school in Richardsville and graduated in 1972 at Restigouche Senior High.

Professional – I went to Granby, Quebec to take the hairdresser’s course. I went back home after my course and worked there for 6 months, then moved to Moncton to be in the big city. I worked for JonRaymond Beauty Salon for 3 years and then made the big move to open my own salon “Salon Coquette” which I operated until 1986. I then went to teach at the CCNB in Bathurst for 4 years and “La Martinique” for 3 years. I then worked at Jon Raymond School until last year.

I am a certified Instructor with the Province of New Brunswick and with the Cosmetology Association of New Brunswick.

Achievements - Master Judging Panel of Canada for 6 years. I also took many advance haircutting courses – “Martin Parsons” in Toronto; L’Oreal in Montreal; Redken color and perm classes in Halifax.

I have entered many competitions during my career as a hairstylist, one of which rewarded me 3rd place for Total Make-Over.

Hobbies - I love to sing; I’m in a choir at church. I sew my own clothes, I love to read motivational books, go to the gym, biking, skating and many more.

Objective - To be the best teacher you have ever had. I have lots of patience, so don’t shy away questions. I am here for all of you. I am a good listener, so never be afraid to come to me for extra explanations and to talk if you are home sick. I’ll be your “mom” away from home.

I hope to have a great year with you and all the staff here at Chez Bernard.
